- August 7, 2018
We are thrilled to announce our first ever Arts Festival, to be held during Children's Week Friday 19th – Sunday 28th October 2018.
Children’s Week celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood, and is a time for children to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities. The 2018 theme is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) - Article 12 'Children's views and opinions are respected. They have the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child and the right to be heard.' To connect with the Children’s Week theme, the 2018 theme of The Infants’ Home Arts Festival is Our World, Our Voices.
This event, a blend of our former Arts Show and Children's Carnival, will be a fun family day out filled with a variety of interactive arts activities, free entertainment and festival favourites including face painting, a petting zoo and food stalls.
Interactive arts experiences for children and families are set to excite and inspire. There will be an indigenous cultural arts experience, an arts space area where children can create with paint, playdough and paper, and a selfie booth for creative family portraits. Children will also have the opportunity to participate in a 'dinosaur stampede' painting experience; to contribute to a group sculpture using recycled objects, and to build their own fortress, town or city from cardboard boxes.
Free entertainment includes a variety of performing arts. There will be a magic show, an indigenous dance performance, and local dance students will showcase their talents through dance demonstrations. Tasty treats on offer will include a sausage sizzle, gelato, gozleme, churros, quesedillas and burritos, as well as sweet delights from the cakes and jams stall. Vegetarian and vegan options will be available.
We hope all our families can join us for this exciting event.
