- August 7, 2018
We are thrilled to announce our first ever Arts Festival, to be held during Children's Week Friday 19 – Sunday 28 October 2018.
Children’s Week celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood, and is a time for children to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities. The 2018 theme is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) - Article 12 'Children's views and opinions are respected. They have the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child and the right to be heard.'
To connect with the Children’s Week theme, the 2018 theme of The Infants’ Home Arts Festival is Our World, Our Voices.
The Festival will be held on Sunday 21 October, 10.00am to 2.00pm.
This event, a blend of our former Arts Show and Children's Carnival, will be a fun family day out filled with a variety of interactive arts activities, entertainment and festival favourites including face painting, a petting zoo and food stalls.
Interactive arts experiences for children and families are set to excite and inspire. There will be an indigenous arts experience and dance workshop, a space to create with paint and paper, and selfie booth for fun family portraits. Children will also have the opportunity to participate in a 'dinosaur stampede' painting activity; to contribute to a group sculpture using recycled objects, and to build their own fortress, town or city from cardboard boxes.
The performing arts will be showcased in our free entertainment lineup, featuring a magic show, indigenous dance performance, and demonstration of dance styles by local dance school students. Arts Festival food options will include a sausage sizzle, gelato, gozleme and vegeratian/vegan noodle dishes as well as sweet treats from the cakes and jams stall.
We hope all our families can join us for this exciting event.
