A visit from the Royal Australian Navy

- November 8, 2017

Recently The Infants' Home welcomed members of the Royal Australian Navy, who enjoyed a tour of our facilities and met some of our children and staff.

We were delighted to recently welcome Captain Guy Holthouse, Commander Michael Hicking, and Midshipman Nathan Rose from the Royal Australian Navy, who visited our centres and enjoyed some animated conversations with children, who were fascinated by the men in uniform.

Our guests, based at the Australian Maritime Warfare Centre, announced their support for The Infants’ Home in honour of our historic association as the adopted charity of the Captain and crew of HMAS Sydney, a warship within the Navy fleet, that was decommissioned in 2015. Whilst the next ship is being built for launch in 2019, the AMWC team will help us via working bees and fundraising events, just as the crew of HMAS Sydney has for over 50 years.

We thank the Australian Navy for their continued support and look forward to working with them to help maintain our facilities and raise funds for our ongoing programs and services for children and families.
