Partnering with Families
Our Child and Family Practitioner works in partnership with families, recognising parents as their child’s first and most important teachers. They offer guidance, reassurance and practical strategies to support parenting confidence, strengthen family relationships and promote positive outcomes. This support is delivered in a respectful, non‑judgemental way that values each family’s unique experiences, culture and strengths.
Early Intervention Support
Through regular engagement with families and our Integrated Team, our Child and Family Practitioner is well placed to identify emerging challenges and provide families with timely support or referrals to other services when needed. This collaborative approach helps ensure our families receive the right support at the right time, reducing barriers to accessing help.
How Does our Child and Family Practitioner Provide Support?
Support from our Child and Family Practitioner is available to all families enrolled in our long day care centres—a referral is not required. Some of the things they can help families with include:
- Accessing and communicating with external services and supports.
- Coordinating family meetings—essentially acting as the link for communication between families and our educators, allied health staff and centre directors, as well as external services and supports.
- Support for eligible families to access Additional Child Care Subsidy (ACCS).
- Assisting with school transitions and participation in the Targeted Transition to School Program for eligible families.
- Providing referrals, information, and resources for families experiencing challenges or needing additional support.
- Providing general support for family wellbeing, as well as information about upcoming and ongoing community events, programs and services.
By supporting both children and their caregivers, our Child and Family Practitioner helps lay strong foundations for lifelong learning, wellbeing and connection—ensuring families feel supported from the very beginning.
