Fathers' playgroup

This group is for fathers, grandfathers, uncles, male carers and their children between the ages of 0 and 5 years.

Children learn more through play than by any other means.

What happens

When you arrive at the playgroup you and your child can:

There are a range of books, games and construction activities you can share with your child depending on what you enjoy doing together.

We also have a short singing and story-telling time at the end of the playgroup.

Why playgroups are important

We provide a space where fathers and their children can interact and build positive relationships using play.

The Infants’ Home provides all play equipment and morning tea.

The group:

Fathers should take every opportunity they can to interact with their children.

What fathers say...

"The father's playgroup has given me the chance to mix with other dads living in the area who are at a similar stage in life, and given me the inner satisfaction that my son has gotten to know me, and still chooses to love me."

Con, father of Deon

"Attending the father's playgroup was great. I learned to do things with my child that I would not normally do, like singing. I was amazed at my son's reaction to the singing activities and to see how much he enjoyed it. Now I make sure we sing a lot more together."

Peter, father of Ryan

"I think many fathers want to be more involved in their children's lives. This often involves changing attitudes about men and 'caring roles'. I thought the playgroup was a fantastic opportunity for dads to interact with other fathers and spend some time caring for their kids in a supportive environment."

Dinesh, father of Jinder
