Aboriginal Outreach Service

The Infants Home and the Aboriginal Women and Children’s Crisis Service have been working closely together in partnership for over 3 years. As part of ongoing consultations regarding an increase in Aboriginal families accessing The Infants Home for various supports, an Aboriginal Outreach Service was established to address the needs of Aboriginal Women and their children.

The Aboriginal Women and Children’s Crisis Service provide an Aboriginal Outreach Service which is based at The Infants Home each Monday, operating from 10.00am -1.00pm. An Aboriginal Specialist Case Worker is based at the Outreach Service and can assist Aboriginal women and their dependent children with a range of issues such as; referral and advocacy, case management, domestic or family violence matters, housing, legal, children’s issues, and referral to counselling if required.

The Aboriginal Specialist Case Worker accepts referrals not only for Aboriginal families attending The Infants Home but also accepts referrals from local services within the Inner West Region of Sydney. An appointment is recommended, however, no Aboriginal woman would be turned away if they arrive and request support.

To make an appointment please call (02) 9799 4844.
