A staged approach

The Infants’ Home will build the new Early Education and Care Centre in stages to minimise disruption to our existing services.
 

Stage 1 of the new centre opened on July 1. Historic Gorton House is in the foreground.
 

Stage 1 – COMPLETED

A new integrated early education and care centre for 120 children.

Stage 1 includes research and training rooms, community rooms, interactive spaces, hot desks for staff, a parent information centre and a therapy centre.

Expected finish date: April 2013
Cost: $8.6 million 

Stage 2 – Underway  

Renovation of existing heritage buildings – Gorton House and the main building – to a GP clinic and various allied health clinics.

The new format of these two buildings will include:

Construction of two new integrated early education and care centres for 110 children.

Renovation of existing heritage buildings – Johnson House – to operate a post-natal clinic, family and parenting centre and a playgroup centre.

Expected start date: When stage 3 is completed
