The Infants’ Home was thrilled to welcome back volunteers from Goldman Sachs last week to freshen up our Sandpits! Goldman Sachs have helped keep our sand pits in tip top shape for the last 5 years, supplying us with between 20 and 30 tonnes of sand each year as part of their Community TeamWorks grant program, which supports volunteer projects around the world.
The team worked tirelessly across a beautiful sunny Winters' day to give children at our centers fresh sand to support their learning through play.
This year's sand pit project took 3 groups of volunteers 2 weeks to complete. We have 10 sand pits in our 5 centres and 24 tonnes of new sand to top them up! Westpac volunteers kick-started the project by emptying out and refilling Rigby and Johnson House sandpits on Wednesday July 12th, Goldman Sachs team members did the hard yards on the Thursday at Robinson and Murray Houses and the group from Axicom finished off the project by refreshing Gorton House sandpits this week
Many of the children were very excited to assist the volunteers with the project, the children in Robinson House grabbed their little spades and helped the volunteers with the big task of emptying the sand from their larger sandpit.
Thanks to the genorsity of Goldman Sachs and its employees, and the support of our Corporate Partnerships, The Infants’ Home is able to continue delivering quality care and education.
Thank you to all of our volunteers who have helped out with this project, we couldnt have done it without you!
