The Infants’ Home constantly develops our services and facilities to ensure we meet the needs of children and families in our community. Right now, we need to build a new kitchen to strengthen our programs to promote healthy lifestyles for all children in our care.
One of the greatest challenges into the future is tackling obesity. Promoting healthy lifestyles by helping children learn about healthy food choices and eating habits is one way to address childhood obesity and other health issues early in life.
The opening of our new Early Education and Care Centre in 2013 to meet growing community demand means we now provide education and care services for up to 300 children on site each day, 30% of whom are children at risk.
Having outgrown our heritage-listed facilities designed to cater to up to 150 children a day, we now look to fit out a new kitchen within this new facility.
Once complete, our new kitchen will allow us to customise menus, prepare fresh, healthy meals onsite daily and strengthen our early intervention and education programs to promote healthy lifestyles for all children in our care. It will also enable us to better cater to children with complex nutritional needs or food allergies, present parent education classes on nutrition and more!
We have so far raised 80% of funding needed for this essential facility. With your help, we can make our new kitchen a reality. Together, we can continue to give each child every opportunity.
