Last weekend Alicia Paciocco, a social worker from The Infants’ Home, joined volunteers from other organisations to host a playgroup experience for children at the Sydney Children’s Festival.
This was the second year that The Children’s Festival has run in the City of Sydney, although it has been running annually in Bankstown since 1999, and. The festival celebrates multiculturalism, and events and activities on the day included workshops, clowns, jumping castle, animal farm, and display stalls. There is a Children’s Parade, a National Costume Display, and a Poster Competition with the theme "I am a proud Australian”.
Alicia, with Vivi Martin from Connect Marrickville, set up an under 5’s play area where children and their Mums and Dads could participate in art and craft activities, playdough, dramatic play and gross motor play.
The festival was held at First Fleet Park in the Rocks, and was a fantastic opportunity for The Infant’s Home to connect with children and families in the wider community.
The Bankstown Children’s festival is scheduled to be held in September in Paul Keating Park. Click here to find out more about this event.
