AFL clinics kicking off soon for 2015!

- March 4, 2015

Back by popular demand, from the beginning of next term we will once again have coaches from AFL NSW/ACT coming to The Infants’ Home to run coaching clinics with the preschool children from Gorton, Robinson and Johnson Houses.

Commencing in late April, the clinics will run from 10am to 11am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays throughout term two. The preschool children from each centre will have a half hour session on the main lawn on each of these days, where they will learn basic AFL movements such as catching, passing and kicking.

The clinics are a great opportunity for the children to get moving, develop their motor skills and learn about being a part of a team in a safe and fun environment.

This year the clinics are being run through AFL NSW/ACT’s Multicultural Schools Football Program (MSFP), which aims to engage young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to broaden both the participating and supporter base in Australian football. The MSFP includes a strong focus on ‘Fair Play, Respect, Team Work, Harmony and Leadership’.

The program will be repeated in terms three and four, and we will endeavour to change the days for the clinics throughout the year to ensure that all children aged 3-5 have an opportunity to participate for at least one term this year.
