GE volunteers pitch in at The Infants' Home

- October 24, 2012

When you occupy 4.5 hectares of grounds and operate 5 early education centres there are always chores that need doing.

A group of 10 volunteers from GE Finance spent a day at The Infants' Home this week to help us maintain our beautiful grounds and premises.

Making a difference

The help The Infants' Home gets from volunteers such as GE allows our staff to concentrate on early childhood development without the extra hassles of maintaining our large site and all its equipment.

The Infants' Home CEO, Anita Kumar, says on such a big property there is always something that needs fixing.

"GE has been a wonderful supporter for many years now and we always appreciate their efforts," she says.

“Soon enough, our children will be enjoying the furniture the GE team sanded and varnished, and dining on the tables and chairs they repaired.

"This is what we call making a difference."

Devan, Shayne and John repair some tables, chairs and other furniture for our children to use.

Generous help

Many generous individuals donate their time and energy to The Infants’ Home through our corporate volunteering program.

“Hosting a team of GE volunteers helps us complete the type of maintenance work we are simply not equipped to handle ourselves,” Anita says.

“It’s also a great opportunity for us to raise awareness of our work. We always take some time at the start of the day to tell volunteers a little about The Infants' Home so they can see how their volunteering contributes to our efforts."
