Finding the Path for Future Success: Jacob’s Story

At the age of three, Jacob’s vocabulary was significantly delayed. He struggled to engage socially with others and had trouble regulating his emotions. Jacob’s mum, Tarnya, was told that it was unlikely that he would be able to attend a mainstream school.

Thankfully, Tarnya found The Infants’ Home.

From day one, Tarnya was heartened by the team’s commitment to learning all they could about Jacob’s strengths and challenges. This was a huge relief for her, as she had previously struggled to enrol her eldest child in childcare due to his additional needs, being told that he was “too difficult” to include, something that would be hard for any parent to hear. Tarnya feared she would have a having a similar experience with Jacob.

As Jacob began to settle into The Infants’ Home, he gained confidence. He developed friendships with other children and he even attended his first play date!

Tarnya says it is the inclusiveness and celebration of diversity which really helps to develop children’s understanding and acceptance of others.

Kids need to feel safe and that they belong. I look forward to watching Jacob’s continuous growth and development, which is only possible because of the solid foundation The Infants’ Home has provided during these vital years.

Your generosity has the power to transform the lives of children like Jacob who are living in extremely challenging circumstances.

We are counting on kind donors like you to help create a society in which every child will thrive.
